Fue el primer videojuego creado para este sistema (Cassette No. 01) junto con Sengoku Ninja-tai (conocido como Ninja en Japón) y Manhattan. Se dice que el título HWY Chase (HWY en lugar de Highway) fue seleccionado para reciclar fácilmente el código fuente y los materiales creados para 'Mad Rider', lanzado anteriormente como PCB y conocido como 'Mad Alien' fuera de Japón.
